Greenville Apostolic Churches

What does the term "Apostolic" mean?

The term "Apostolic" is used by a church to identify itself as preaching, teaching, and closely adhering to the doctrine of the Apostles as taught in the book of Acts. Since the time of the Apostles, many doctrines of the church have either been abandoned, ignored, or modified through various church councils and traditions. The Apostolic movement is a movement to return to the purity of the doctrine taught by the Apostles.

A prominent example, perhaps the most prominent example and one that identifies most if not all Apostolic churches, is the practice of baptism by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ. Throughout the book of Acts, we find that baptism was always administered in the name of Jesus, the name of Jesus Christ, or the name of the Lord. Apostolic churches can easily be identified by their mode and formula of baptism.

Again many, if not all, Apostolic churches also teach that Acts 2:38 is the salvation method delivered by the Apostles to the first converts within the church and as such is the message which should be emphasized today.

Like other members of the Pentecostal family, Apostolics tend to be very conservative doctrinally and politically and equally demonstrative in worship.
